605 Микрорайон

A collection of restored recordings by 605 Mikrorayon, a band believed to have existed in eastern Ukraine and recorded between 1986 and 1998. The material was recovered from damaged magnetic cassettes, home recordings, local broadcasts, and fragments of archival transmissions.

Cold post-punk, minimal wave, and late-Soviet urban melancholy: empty courtyards, apartment blocks at night, television static, stairwells, forgotten routes, and voices fading with the signal.

Some recordings contain VHS degradation, audio dropouts, radio fragments, and artifacts of repeated tape copying. Several tracks have been reconstructed or remixed from surviving archival sources, preserving as much of the original atmosphere as possible.

The band's origins and the identities of most of its members remain unknown. All that survives are fragments.

This is not nostalgia.

This is a residual signal.
