Дима Милан

Dima Milan is a Russian singer who became active in the late 1990s. His songs were aimed primarily at radio, cassette compilations, television music programs, and inexpensive promotional CDs.

In 1998–1999, Dima Milan gets an opportunity to record several original songs for a small regional music label. The material is intended for radio, cassette compilations, and low-budget promo CDs. The songs are simple, romantic, and easy to remember: love, separation, waiting, a chance encounter, loneliness, and New Year.

The lyrics contain no complex poetry. They are direct human stories typical of Russian pop music of the late 1990s. The music is warm and melodic, built around acoustic and electric guitars, piano, melodic bass, drum machines, soft percussion, and subtle analog synthesizers.

Dima Milan has a warm male baritone, natural Russian pronunciation, and a sincere, slightly naive delivery. His slower songs are romantic and mildly melancholic, while the more upbeat material is light and danceable.

His style is straightforward Russian radio pop from the turn of the 1990s and 2000s: sincere, slightly “sticky,” melodic, and unafraid of simple melodies and uncomplicated emotions.
