ФАЗА/НОЛЬ

Archive recordings of a late-1980s Soviet synthpop / coldwave duo.

According to the project's lore, PHASE/ZERO was formed inside a closed research institute studying acoustic response, emotional suppression, and the psychological effects of synthetic sound.

The music combines cold analog synthesizers, minimalist drum machine rhythms, and detached male/female duet vocals — as if transmitted through the institute’s internal communication system.

These recordings were never intended for official release and circulated only on cassette tapes among laboratory workers, radio engineers, and collectors of underground electronic music.

PHASE/ZERO — recovered recordings attributed to the fictional Institute of Silence. Synthpop, coldwave and Sovietwave textures emerge through magnetic tape degradation, laboratory signals and fragments of a research archive that was never meant to be found.
